JMD Telefilms Industries Limited (JMD) was originally incorporated in the year 1984 in the name and style of M/s. Avtar Finance & Management Consultants Limited which was being changed to JMD Telefilms Industries Ltd. in year 2001 where JMD denotes the famous brand of “Jai Mata Di” in the Audio, Video and Television arena.
In early part of year 2001 the Company has changed its line of business from finance to Entertainment Industry by way acquiring the running sound recording studio i.e. Studio JMD Sounds (JMD) from Mr. Kailash Purohit which was equipped with modern instruments for Sound Recording at that time.
Studio JMD Sounds (JMD) is one of the largest Audio Recording Studio equipped with all modern state of art facilities. The Studio is located at one of the best location in Kolkata i.e. Park Street.
The present environment has dramatically changed the ways and style of present day of living. The entertainment activities for relaxing and tension free minds and hassle free movements have almost brought about a revolutionary change in entertainment business. JMD in the middle of a global entertainment revolution cannot afford to miss this opportunity.
JMD is having copy rights of more than 300 music cassettes produced / acquired over a period of time with sole proprietary rights. These cassettes are omnibus and the most comprehensive in the industry. JMD has incurred a sum of over Rs. 500 Lakhs during the period for the preparation of these master cassettes and albums consisting of songs, bhajans, gazals, quabalies and other musical varieties in Hindi, Rajasthani, Bhojpuri and Bengali languages.
JMD has engaged services of top class singers and music parties for the songs and music albums produced by it are by famous singers like Late Mahendra Kapoor, Udit Narayan Kavita Krishnamurthy, Kumar Shanu, Vinod Rathore, Anupama Deshpande, Bhupen Hazarika and also Mr.
Kailash Purohit, the proprietor of JMD, who is one of the recognized top class singers in the country. Mr. Kailash Purohit has already recorded more than 100 songs in his own voice in various languages.
JMD has successfully established tremendous brand equity for itself in the niche of Hindi, Rajasthani, Bengali and Bhojpuri songs, albums and music entertainment segment. In this segment, it is one of the undisputed leaders with top of mind recall that no other music company equals.
JMD is known to have superior audience in the vast regions where most of India lives viz. rural areas.
JMD advertising effectiveness has lead to consistent customer support. It has relationship with most of the major ad agencies.
The annual turnover of company has been changed dramatically and jumped from 16.48 Crore to Rs. 54.54 Crore in financial year 2007-08 and is expected to touch Rs. 100 Crore during the financial year 2008-09. Moreover the Company has successfully paid dividend for the 2nd consecutive year i.e. financial year 2007-08. At present the Company is having reserves of Rs. 3.26 Crore, which is about 162% of Paid-up Capital of the Company. These financial data reflects strong financial background, continuous profit making and having its presence in the Entertainment industry in term of turnover the Company achieved during last financial year. Moreover the Company is committed to deliver shareholders on continuous basis.
Thus, JMD possesses a combination of unique strengths. JMD has clear and leadership positioning in the Rajasthani segment, occupies a niche whose vastly popular format is not occupied by any competitor, penetrates, rural markets.
MANAGEMENT OF THE COMPANY
Mr. Kailash Purohit who has more than 15 years of experience in the business heads JMD Sounds. The company under his leadership is all set to see in near future a manifold growth in the business.
Mr. Ashok Bothra, an Independent Director of Company, having an experience of more than a decade in the arena of Company Law, Management, media and Financial Market, is an additional advantages and Company has done well in past two years by way of the timely guidance and appropriate suggestions of Mr. Ashok Bothra.

GOALS AND STRATEGIES
- To be proven leader in India in the Hindi, Bengali, Rajasthani, Bhojpuri songs, music and entertainment business.
- To run all the business to the highest standards of ethics and to encourage a climate where its songs and musical varieties are not only the best in the range and quality but also the best in production efficiency.
- To provide songs and musical varieties, which consistently meet audience, needs in scope, quality, and cost and with timings. The JMD shall fulfill this purpose through a management team, which is professional, customer aware, innovative, continuously seeking improvement.
- To expand its activities to new horizons by launching the musical varieties and songs in various other languages and then to continuously rejuvenate the business with popular original varieties. Besides, to equip itself and to enhance its market presence, JMD intends to enlarge its studio and production capacities, produce and acquire software to enhance quality and productivity and enlarge its current songs library to a greater extent.
- JMD has completed the gestation period and building brand equity for itself. However, JMD was not able to fully capitalize on its unique strengths for want of adequate resources. To seize the opportunity that are available and to consolidate its market position, JMD now invites participation by a suitable partner/investor/financer.
- JMD is having serious negotiation with leading TV Channels for telecasting songs in its library. Telecasters would be paying JMD a royalty for use of their library. The negotiations with various Channels are at finalization stage and JMD expects revenue model of Rs. 100 Lakhs a year as royalty income. Further, once the search for Channel partner will be completed, JMD is expected to do far better in coming days by way of modernizing its Studio, adding more music rights in its kitty and to be a one of the famous brand in music industry.
- To provide value for money to customers and other who interact with the JMD group.
- Our future plans revolve around the existing base of our recording unit. We intend to extend the current set up of audio recording and broaden it to Non- Linear Video Editing by the end of the year.
- Widening our base horizontally, we propose to create a complete Video editing set-up, inclusive of Video CD Replicating and Audio CD Replicating. This will be further expanded to Video Shooting and Replicating. We plan to buy our own video camera for this.
